Friesians exist in small numbers across the whole of Australia and they are spread thinly, so most buyers end up looking at horses in another state. We breed purebred Friesians and Friesian Warmbloods at Yangan in south east Queensland, we have sold into Victoria, and this page sets out exactly how buying from Queensland works when you live in Victoria: what happens, what it costs to get the horse home, and how long it takes.
Every horse we have available is listed below, with its breeding, its age, the height we expect it to mature at and what training is in it.
We breed both purebred Friesians and Friesian Warmbloods. The horses we usually have available are young Friesian Warmblood geldings with extensive groundwork, and our purebred foals are the answer if a purebred is what you want. If you want to understand what makes one Friesian cost more than another before you look at anything, start with our price guide, which sets out the purebred and the Warmblood figures separately.

Rembrandt van Merindah, who we call Remmie, is 87% Friesian, born 10 January 2024, by Henrik OP out of our Friesian Warmblood mare Black Magic Zoe. He is a gelding, estimated to mature at around 16 hands, and he is the highest percentage horse we have offered for sale. He has had extensive groundwork and he is not started under saddle, because he is still too young for that. He leads, ties up, floats and travels calmly. He is very kind, soft and highly responsive, with the lovely expressive movement typical of the Friesian. Remmie becomes elevated more quickly if pressure is put on him, which is part of his Friesian heritage, so his owner needs good feel and communication. In the right hands he would power up into a highly expressive performance horse, or he would be a wonderfully kind and well mannered riding and pleasure horse with the most loving disposition you could want.
We do not have a purebred Friesian for sale on the ground at the moment, and our purebred foals are the answer if that is what you are set on. Kismet of Terarossa is in foal to Dirk T van Sessing, an imported stallion standing on a breeding permit, due 5 November 2026, and that foal will be for sale. Our young purebred stallion Morpheus has his first foals due through early 2027. If a purebred is what you want, the conversation to have with us is about the foals coming rather than the horses standing in the paddock today
These are our price guides for Friesian Warmblood horses, and they are the range rather than a figure against any one horse. What a horse sells for inside that range depends on its breeding, its conformation and movement, and how much training is already in it.

Breaking in with our preferred horse breaker is $3,500 plus GST, which is $3,850.
We have a Contract of Sale that must be viewed and signed before the deposit is paid, as payment of deposit will indicate acceptance of the terms of the contract.
A deposit of $1,000 holds a horse, the balance of payment can be made as a lump sum or can be set up in a payment plan that results in the balance being paid in full before the horse leaves our property. These terms will be set out in the Contract of Sale.
The distance is the part people worry about, so here is the whole process. You ring us and we talk about what you want the horse for and what your level of experience is, because that decides which horse suits you and whether we have one. If we do, you come and see the horse. Buyers fly into Brisbane and the farm is just under two hours drive from the airport, so it is a day trip or an overnight. Visits are by appointment only, so please contact us to arrange this.
You watch us handle the horse, you will need to also handle the horse yourself, and you can ask as many questions as you wish. If the horse suits you, a $1,000 deposit secures it. We can then assist you to organise transport. You will need to take out insurance effective from the date of purchase, and the horse comes home to you with a training and nutrition handover so you know exactly what it has done and what it has been eating. Dependent on the registration of the horse, if it’s a Friesian Warmblood the registration certificate and transfer request form go to the purchaser for lodging. For a purebred Friesian, the registration certificate is lodged to the AFHS by the seller. Both buyer and seller need to complete the transfer of ownership form.
We will not sell a horse sight unseen, and it is worth explaining why rather than just stating it. People can and have overstated their experience, without meaning to, and a horse sold to the wrong rider can create a dangerous situation for the purchaser with potential for serious injury. It can also result in a horse that gets sold on again, often into worse circumstances. Seeing you with the horse tells us in ten minutes what a phone call cannot. It is care rather than obstruction. We are responsible breeders and we take human safety and the whole of life of our horses very seriously.

Queensland to Victoria is about three days by road. Horses are not flown domestically in Australia, only for export, so every horse travels by float or horse truck, unloading to rest, feed and water along the way.
We can recommend a transporter and let you book them, or we can book on your behalf. Transport is at the purchaser’s cost. A transporter prices on the route and the time of year, so we get a current quote for your journey rather than quoting an old one. As a guide to what the distance actually involves, we transported a young horse to Geelong ourselves in early 2025, over three days, and it cost $2,500 which covered our costs only. That is not a commercial rate, and it is worth knowing if you are weighing up driving up to collect the horse yourself.
Our young horses are taught to load and travel on a float long before they leave, with plenty of trips including into town and out on the highway, so they will load and travel safely for whomever is transporting them. You need to be at the other end to receive the horse and settle it into its new place.
There is more detail, state by state, on our Friesian horse transport page.
Contact us and tell us what you are after. If we do not have the right horse for you now we will tell you so, and we can let you know what is upcoming. Our guide to buying a Friesian, is worth reading first whether you buy from us or from anyone else.
If it is the cross you are interested in rather than a purebred, our Friesian Warmblood page explains what that actually means.
HAVE QUESTIONS?
Yes, and it is routine. We can recommend a transporter and let you book them, or we can book on your behalf. Transport is at the purchaser’s cost. Queensland to Victoria takes about three days by road. Horses are not flown domestically in Australia, only for export, so every horse travels by float or horse truck.
A transporter prices on the route and the time of year, so we get a current quote for your journey before you commit rather than quoting from an old job. As a guide to what the distance involves, we drove a young horse to Geelong ourselves in early 2025, which took three days and cost $2,500 covering our costs only. That figure is not a commercial rate.
Yes, and we will not sell a horse sight unseen, including to interstate buyers. It is often the only way for us to know whether the horse and the rider suit each other, and getting that wrong risks the rider being hurt and risks the horse being sold on into the wrong hands. Victorian buyers fly into Brisbane and hire a car, and the farm is just under two hours away. Visits are by appointment, so ring ahead.

Our unbroken Friesian Warmblood horses sit in two bands by percentage, with started horses in progressed training above that. The bands are on this page. We give you the price for an individual horse when you ring, and a deposit of $1,000 holds a horse.
About three days by road. The horse is unloaded, rested, fed and watered along the way, which is why it is not a straight drive. You need to be there at the other end to receive the horse and settle it into its new place.
