Yes, you can buy one of our Miniature Schnauzer puppies from outside Queensland, and we do it regularly, travel is at the buyers expense. Our puppies fly to their new families from nine weeks of age, we organise the whole trip and book it on your behalf, and the travel crate is included and sized to suit your dog for life. You do not need to travel here to choose your puppy either, we do that on a video call.
We are at Yangan in Queensland, a bit under two hours from Brisbane, and a good share of our puppy families have never set foot on the farm.
It works because we do the same things for an interstate family that we do for a local one, we just do them on the phone and on video instead of over a cup of tea.
You tell us what you are after and what your household looks like, we tell you honestly which of our litters would suit, you go on the waiting list, and when your litter is old enough to allocate we get on a video call and introduce you to the puppies.
Melbourne is a long way from us by road and no distance at all by air. The flight is a short one and your puppy is with you the same day it leaves us, and the travel agent we use quotes the trip city by city, so you know what the travel costs before you commit to anything. If you are in Melbourne or anywhere in Victoria, the process is exactly the same as it is for a family in Brisbane, right up until the last day.
Puppies fly with Virgin out of Brisbane and they can fly from nine weeks of age, with a Fit to Fly certificate from our vet. A travel agent organises the flight and quotes for your city, and we book it on your behalf, so the invoice and the itinerary are emailed straight to you with us copied in and nothing gets lost between the two of us.
The travel crate is included in the cost of the trip and it is sized to suit your dog for the rest of its life, so it is not money spent on something you use once and throw away.
Our puppies are crate trained before they go anywhere, and that is the part that matters most. The travel agent comments regularly on how calm our puppies are, sitting quietly while other puppies around them are distressed.
That is not luck, it is the crate training and all the new sounds and situations they have been through here since they were very small.
This is the part people worry about most, so here is exactly how it goes. We start with a phone call or two, well before there are puppies on the ground, so that we understand what you are hoping for and can tell you which of our litters would suit you and which would not. When the litter is old enough to allocate, we get on a WhatsApp video call, show you the puppies that would suit your household and talk you through what we have seen of each one’s personality, because by then we have been watching them closely for weeks. Even when colour and sex narrow it down to a single puppy, we still do the video call, because meeting your puppy for the first time should be a special moment.
Ralph was Stevie and Oscar’s 2024 pup who stayed with us in Board and Train until he was 7 months old. His family flew from Canberra to Brisbane and hired a car to drive out and spend 3 days in training with us. In that time with the training, Ralph was ‘grafted onto’ his new family and Kerrie became the forgotten one (hits in the heart a bit but that's the aim of the training). I had booked Ralph onto their return flight. Their commitment to leaving Ralph in Board and Train and their huge commitment to coming and learning “how to drive their Ralph’, made his transition to their home and lifestyle a huge and easy success.
Hugo was Elfie and Oscar’s 2023 pup and he was our first Western Australia family, destination Karratha. This required a 6 hour flight from Brisbane to Perth and then a connecting flight to Karratha, which is far too many hours in a crate for a 9 week old pup. We told the family that to proceed, we would need him to be picked up at the Perth airport and have a night in Perth, before catching his next flight. To their absolute credit the family found a reliable friend to collect him from the Perth airport that afternoon, she updated both his family and us with photos and she delivered him back the airport the next morning, where he easily flew the remaining few hours to meet his new family. Our overall concern is the welfare of the pup and the fact that we have toilet and crate trained our puppies, meant that Hugo needed that break in the middle so it didn’t become a stressful event for him.
Pippy is Tuppence and Clancy’s 2026 pup. We have him in Board and Train until the end of 2026 as he is being prepared to become an assistance dog. In that time, his owner is travelling to spend around 10 days at a time, at nearby accommodation so she can come daily and be in training with him. This way, she is learning correct and appropriate training techniques to keep up the high level of training that an assistance dog requires, and she is getting to see the different stages of training that Pippy is going through as he progresses in his training. When he is ready to leave, she will have an extensive 10 day handover and we will plan and book his travel to coincide with his owner's return flight home.
We do send puppies to some overseas destinations, as long as the flight is within about eight hours. There is more paperwork involved and the travel agent handles it, so please ask us early if you are outside Australia and we will find out what is required for your country before you go any further.
Every breeding dog here is DNA tested through both Orivet and Embark, and we keep an extensive multi generation family tree so that we are not breeding related dogs. Our dogs eat a raw species appropriate diet with the fat managed carefully, which matters a great deal for this breed, and the puppies start on food we make from scratch, neonates are supplemented where needed, on freeze dried raw Nubian goats milk that we source from a local dairy. We will never use ‘puppy formula’ for baby puppies. The full testing panel is published on our Miniature Schnauzer breeding program page.
Puppies spend their first days in our bedroom where we can watch them closely, then move out into new environments, new sounds and eventually into carefully supervised time with our adult dogs. They learn to wait for their food, to settle in a crate, are toilet trained, how to politely be on a lead and to listen, all of it before they leave us. It is the same for every puppy, whether it is going down the road or onto a plane.
Your puppy is vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped and DNA sampled for parentage before it travels. It comes with a comprehensive puppy pack that is designed to be practical and useful for the lifetime of your puppy, including intensive support around nutrition and dental health that will serve your pup for its whole life. The biggest part of this is access to our 4 day face to face puppy training program, which takes the place of conventional puppy pre-school, which we strongly do not recommend taking our puppies to, as it promptly undoes all of our hard work with training them. We have had families travel from many parts of Australia to access this training and have found it highly beneficial for both them and their pup. There is more about the training on our Puppy Training Packages page, and about the first days at home on our Bringing a Puppy Home page.
Our support for you is for the whole life of your puppy, and interstate families use it just as much as local ones do. If you would like to know what our families say afterwards, they are on our reviews page.
Get in touch and tell us what you are looking for. We will talk it through properly on the phone, including the price and everything that is included in it, and if it feels right for both of us we will put you on the list. Your place is secured with a deposit, and the price we give you in that first conversation is the price we honour, as long as we work through the agreed steps together. Our current litters are on our Miniature Schnauzer puppies for sale page.
